For more than a decade, the San Antonio Spurs were one of the teams to beat in the NBA.
The legendary trio of Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, and Tim Duncan set a new standard for what a winning team was.
First with David Robinson and then with that trio and Kawhi Leonard, Gregg Popovich went on to become arguably the greatest coach in basketball history.
Now, he has another elite weapon to work with, and it feels like Victor Wembanyama couldn’t have chosen a better destination to begin his NBA career.
With that in mind, former NBA star Gilbert Arenas believes that a couple of years from now, Wembanyama will have a 1987-88 Michael Jordan kind of season in the sense that he could lead the league in blocks, rebounds, steals, etc (via Gils Arena & Legion Hoops).

Wembanyama is a unique talent.
His combination of handles, shooting, length, and shot-blocking is just mesmerizing.
He can run the length of the floor in just three dribbles, swat shots into the stands, and then finish after his own missed three-pointer.
On top of that, he seems to have an unmatched work ethic and an unwavering desire to be one of the greatest players of all time.
It won’t be long before other stars are lining up to team up with him and play under Popovich’s tutelage.
The rest of the league needs to make the most of their time now that Wembanyama is still learning, as he’s going to be the most dominant force in the NBA in no time.
