The Los Angeles Lakers may be making a lot of noise heading into the NBA offseason, with the storied franchise expected to make some drastic moves for one last run with LeBron James, but the Cleveland Cavaliers may have stolen the spotlight after losing to the Boston Celtics in the second round of the NBA playoffs.
Superstar guard Donovan Mitchell suffered a calf strain in the series with the Celtics, and that was enough to end any hopes of Cleveland pulling off the upset against Boston.
Along with the team flaming out due to injury and simply not being on the same level as the top-seeded Celtics, the Cavaliers dominated the headlines this week, with much speculation about Mitchell’s immediate future.
All signs seem to point to Mitchell being traded by the Cavaliers this summer, as he’s been linked to several teams, including the Lakers, and may be very open to a move, as most people believe he will not sign a contract extension with Cleveland.
With the Cavaliers expected to be highly active during the offseason, longtime team owner Dan Gilbert will likely get “significantly” involved this summer, according to Brian Windhorst of ESPN, via ESPN Cleveland.
“Significantly,” Windhorst said. … “Absolutely, Dan is heavily involved.”

Clearly, the Cavaliers are determined to shake things up this summer, with the team simply not clicking the way it should with all the young talent on the roster.
Only time will tell whether Mitchell will be on the move or if it ends up being Darius Garland and what players end up coming to Cleveland in exchange.
