Pakistan’s qualification scenarios for the T20 World Cup super 8 stage have improved after India beat the USA by 7 wickets.
The Pakistan cricket team was on the brink of elimination from the T20 World Cup. Having already lost to the USA, the Babar Azam-led side was handed an improbable defeat by arch-rivals India at the Nassau Cricket Stadium. But, against Canada, the Men in Green were at their absolute best and have therefore kept themselves alive in the competition. Now, India has done them a favor by beating the USA by 7 wickets.
Pakistan Super 8 Qualification Scenario
Pakistan qualification scenarios are pretty straightforward at the moment. They cannot afford to lose their remaining match against Ireland on June 16. If they lose their last group stage match, they’ll be eliminated from the T20 World Cup. Next, they would like the USA to lose their next match on June 14. Pakistan now has a better Net Run Rate (NRR) and wouldn’t want to win by a smaller margin than the number of runs the USA would lose to Ireland. Lastly, they would like Canada to lose to India, and if they win, they have a worse net run rate than them.
- Beat Ireland
- USA to lose their next match by a smaller margin that their win vs Ireland
- Canada doesn’t win against India and doesn’t have a better Net Run Rate
