Beetlejuice 2 Trailer Has Fans Going Wild for Michael Keaton’s Nostalgic Return

Fans have quickly taken to social media to share their reactions to the first trailer for Beetlejuice sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. The long-awaited follow-up from director Tim Burton is due to land in theaters later this year and, so far, fans are loving what they’ve seen…

It is clear from the initial reactions that Tim Burton may have done the near-impossible and brought Beetlejuice back in a belated sequel that could potentially match the original movie. Here are some of the reactions that followed the teaser’s release.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Brings an All-Star Cast to the Mayhem

Directed by Tim Burton from a screenplay by the writing team of Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, and based on a story by Seth Grahame-Smith, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice sees Michael Keaton return as Betelgeuse alongside Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz, Catherine O’Hara as Delia Deetz, Monica Bellucci as Betelgeuse’s wife, and Willem Dafoe as a ghost detective.

Taking the lead this time around is Wednesday star Jenna Ortega as Astrid Deetz, Lydia’s daughter. The actress has teased her role in the Beetlejuice sequel, comparing the role to that of Wednesday Addams in the hit Netflix series.

“I wouldn’t say she’s bright and sunny at all. She doesn’t go to the opposite end of the spectrum, but any kid who becomes a teenager wants to be removed from their parents. I think they instantly just fight whatever it is that their parent love. So I think it’s a little bit of that. I’m not wearing pink and a cheerleader, but I am a little bit against my mom’s history or past. We butt heads quite a bit.”

Michael Keaton, meanwhile, has heaped praise on Ortega in the lead, declaring that she’s got “the tone.”

“Oh man, she’s good, she’s just got it, you know? She’s got the tone. She showed up and just immediately knew what the tone was and just slipped in like she does every day. She’s really special.”

Not only do fans love what they’ve seen from Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, so does Keaton himself, with the actor revealing recently that he has now seen the movie and it is “beautiful.”

“It is really good. And beautiful. Beautiful, you know, physically. You know what I mean? The other one was so fun and exciting visually. It’s all that, but really kind of beautiful and interestingly emotional here and there. I wasn’t ready for that, you know. Yeah, it’s great. It’s great and the cast, I mean, Catherine [O’Hara], if you thought she was funny last time, double it. She’s so funny and Justin Theroux is like, I mean, come on.”

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is a sequel to Beetlejuice, which was released all the way back in 1988.
