Marvel Studios did not disappoint with their Daredevil: Born Again presentation at D23 on Friday evening. The revival series starring Charlie Cox and the original cast dropped its first trailer at the presentation, with the main cast on stage, offering hope that the series will stand out from more recent MCU releases. Although the trailer hasn’t been released officially (so we can’t include it here), some bootleg versions are circulating on social media.
Fan response to the trailer from those in attendance, as well as fans seeing updates on social media, is enthusiastic and overwhelmingly positive, with many describing it as feeling like Season 4 of the original Netflix series rather than a new series. Although we already knew from unofficial set pictures that Jon Bernthal was returning as Frank Castle (The Punisher), his attendance at the presentation and the character’s appearance in the trailer confirmed it.

The series’ villain, Muse, is seen briefly in the trailer. The villain, who was first introduced in the comics in 2016, is a serial killer and a street artist with superpowers. In the brief glimpse the trailer provides, Muse is wearing a very comic-accurate, all-white outfit, with black ink dripping from eye holes of the mask.
Of course, The Kingpin is back, fresh off of his appearance in the Disney+ Marvel series, Echo. D’Onofrio took the stage to thunderous applause, as video tweeted by Marvel Studios shows.

Among the confirmations from the trailer and the panel are a release date of March 2025, and Season 2 is confirmed and will begin production soon. White Tiger is confirmed to appear in the series, and a shot from the trailer revealed multiple Daredevil helmets on display in some sort of lair, including the yellow, black, and traditional red helmets, which many fans on social media went wild over.
Suffice it to say, fans are excited.

Daredevil’s Journey Back from Cancelation
When the original Netflix series was canceled in 2018, it seemed Cox’s days as Matt Murdock and The Man Without Fear were over. However, unrelenting fan pressure caused Disney to bring the character back for small cameos, first in Spider-Man: No Way Home, then in the Disney+ series She-Hulk, and finally a brief appearance in Echo. It was clear fans wanted this Matt Murdock in the MCU, and not a rebooted character, and Marvel Studios did the smart thing.
Initially, Marvel seemed reluctant to bring back the entire cast, particularly Bernthal, Henson, and Woll. Eventually, Marvel saw the light here as well, confirming all would return, giving the fans what they wanted and making the reunion complete.

premieres on Disney+ in March 2025.
