A teaser trailer for the upcoming indie film Christmas Slasher, a horror-comedy movie from Lady Destiny Productions in association with Ironbound Empire, is here. Described as having the “spirit and energy of the 1980s movie slashers and the gory outrageous fun of Troma films,” the movie puts a psychological horror spin on the classic story Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. You can watch the teaser for the holiday horror movie below, courtesy of Lady Destiny Productions.
Christmas Slasher is the brainchild of writer, director, producer, and lead actress Destiny Soria, who successfully funded the project via Indiegogo. Shot on location in Minnesota and Texas, the film stars Soria, Nicholas Brendon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Ryan McGivern, Tatiana Sokolova, Landon Munoz, Mathew LaSpina, Jasmine V. Anderson, Keylan Hayes, Joshua Kirpach, Anthony Del Negro, Kamila Talpa, Donna Gafford, and Jason John Cicalese. Troma’s Lloyd Kaufman (The Toxic Avenger) and scream queen Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp) make special appearances.
You can read the official synopsis for Christmas Slasher below.
“As the holiday season rolls in, a murderous zombie reindeer wreaks havoc on the small town of Vixen, Minnesota. The local townsfolk are being viciously attacked and killed. Even the hunters are being hunted! As the film shifts forward ten years after the murders in Vixen, the film centers around Alita Claus (Destiny Soria), when she and a group of her best friends from college decide to spend Christmas break in a cabin deep in the woods. Accompanying Alita is her boyfriend Brandon (Landon Munoz), Cody (Keylan Hayes) and his girlfriend Jasmine (Jasmine V. Anderson), as well as Rudy (Mathew LaSpina) who is secretly in love with Alita.
On the agenda, is hunting, drinking, games and of course sex… however, things quickly go awry. Not only is the zombie reindeer still on the loose, but also Mr. and Mrs. Claus themselves! The once jolly couple who brought the Spirit of Christmas to millions, are now psychotic monsters who have put the entire group on the hit list. Can Alita save her friends before it’s too late? And why is her last name ‘Claus?’”
Christmas Slasher Features Lloyd Kaufman and Felissa Rose Cameos
Given the Troma vibe of the horror-comedy film, it’s only appropriate for Lloyd Kaufman to appear in Christmas Slasher as well. Uncle Lloydie, as he likes to be called, is known for his Troma work dating back decades, which includes The Toxic Avenger and Tromeo and Juliet, among others. Lady Destiny Productions notes that the involvement of Kaufman, who plays a news anchor in the film, only “further validates the spirit and influence of the film… a complete tribute to a sub-genre he helped create.”
Iconic scream queen and horror genre favorite Felissa Rose also appears in the film as Linda Claus. Slasher fans recognize Rose for playing Angela in the original Sleepaway Camp, a role she reprised in Return to Sleepaway Camp. Rose continues to frequently work in the horror genre and adds Christmas Slasher to countless indie horror films that grace her resume.
Christmas Slasher does not yet have an official release date but is coming sometime in 2022.
