Denmark vs Serbia – UEFA Nations League Prediction

Date:

Denmark will look to continue their positive start to the Nations League on Sunday when they face Serbia.

The two teams are in a group alongside Switzerland and Spain.

Match Preview

Denmark recent form

The Danes kicked off their Nations League with an impressive 2-0 home victory against Switzerland on Thursday, though they did eventually face just nine men as Nico Elvedi and Granit Xhaka were sent off.

At the Euros, they drew all three of their group matches yet somehow still progressed to the last 16. They encountered Germany at that stage, however, and were eliminated after a 2-0 defeat.

Denmark injury news

Denmark are without Rasmus Hojlund who hasn’t played yet this season due to a hamstring injury, while Matt O’Riley has been ruled out for months after being injured on his debut for Brighton last week.

Christian Eriksen and Kasper Dolberg only lasted an hour against the Swiss, but at the moment, it doesn’t appear this was related to injuries.

Serbia recent form

Serbia impressively held European Champions Spain to a 0-0 draw on Thursday, further solidifying their reputation as draw specialists recently.

Four out of their last five competitive games have ended as a draw, with the other game being a loss versus England at the Euros.

Serbia injury news

Serbia are missing a number of key players for this round of games. Dusan Vlahovic asked not to be selected for family reasons, while Aleksandar Mitrovic and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic are injured.

Dusan Tadic has retired from international football.

Dragan Stojkovic has called up five previously uncapped players for the two games matches.

Denmark – Player to Watch?

Christian Eriksen remains the heartbeat of this Denmark side and most of the positive play going forward is through him. After only playing an hour on Thursday, though, will he feature?

Serbia – Player to Watch?

Lazar Samardzic earned a big-money move to Atalanta in the summer and he is going to have to step up for his nation in the absence of names like Milinkovic-Savic and Tadic.

Denmark earned a good victory against Switzerland but things became a lot easier for them as they faced 10 men then nine men. Serbia will be gearing themselves up to earn an away draw, and they’ll probably get it.

Scoreline prediction – Denmark 1-1 Serbia
