Resuming the innings from 52/2, the Sri Lankan batters withstood the English attack that seemed quite mediocre on the fourth day. Although nightwatchman Prabath Jayasuriya was dismissed early, the experienced triumvirate of Dimuth Karunaratne, Angelo Mathews, and Dinesh Chandimal made the opposition bowlers toil for wickets. There was a situation when Chris Woakes rightfully earned his wicket of Chandimal if not for a technical glitch that led to controversial umpiring drama.
Woakes was halfway through his spell in the second session when Chandimal crossed the fifty-run mark in the second innings. While trying to extend the innings, the right-hander was trapped in front of the wicket on the last ball of the 60th over. Woakes bowled a fuller than a length delivery that seamed inward to beat the inside edge of the on-drive from the batter.
While the onfield umpire Joel Wilson signaled it out, Sri Lanka opted for a review and ironically, the TV umpire reversed the decision. A tiny scratch was spotted as the ball whiskered past the edge of the bat, causing the decision to overturn. The 35-year-old was completely furious about the decision and was seen seething in the field after arguing with Wilson. The English players surrounded the umpire but only to provoke a debate on technological glitch in Ultraedge.

I think Chandimal isn’t 100% fit enough after the finger injury or the pain after the injury is still going in his mind. His defence isn’t up to the mark when the ball is coming towards his hand against faster bowlers.
