Eyeing to strengthen the crown spot in the 2023-25 World Test Championship cycle, India have made a few amendments to their Test set-up ahead of the first test against Bangladesh. Rishabh Pant returns to the red-ball format after his career-threatening accident kept him away from action until the 2024 Indian Premier League where he marked a comeback.
In another heart-warming news, Dayal earned his maiden national call-up to the Test team. He has scalped 76 wickets from 24 First Class games for UP at a bowling average of 28.89. He bagged four-wickets in the recent India versus India B clash in the Duleep Trophy with a three-fer in the second innings. His left-arm angle will be key in the fast bowlers mix of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep.
In another debacle for the No. 5 batting spot, both Sarfaraz Khan and KL Rahul will have to ply their trade to prove their mettle ahead of India’s packed red-ball calendar. While Rohit Sharma is likely to open with Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill is likely to get an extended run at the No. 3 position despite his poor numbers in the England series back in March.
