The New England Patriots are set to embark on a new era for the franchise.

They head into the 2024 season with a new head coach for the first time in over 20 years, as Jerod Mayo has taken over for Bill Belichick.

It has been awhile since fans have seen a new coach for this team, leaving a lot of questions about what this team can accomplish in 2024 and beyond.

While a new coach is certainly a wrinkle for this organization, another massive question for them lies at the quarterback position.

After moving on from Mac Jones, many believe the Patriots will draft a quarterback this year, especially since they have the No. 3 overall pick.

When considering who the Patriots might select with this pick, Cameron Wolfe shared some insight from coach Mayo, which was highlighted by Mike Kadlick on Twitter.

Wolfe indicates that Mayo “really raved about [Drake Maye] when we talked today. He talked how smart he is, how competitive he is,” larger adding, “he’s the type of guy who can be a franchise cornerstone.”

This is high praise from Mayo to Maye, who is certainly seen as one of the top quarterback prospects in the class.

Taking over the QB role in New England is a daunting task, especially since Tom Brady has only been gone for a few years.

Fans got used to having a strong quarterback when Brady was in the building, but if a player like Maye can come in and impress in his rookie year, he could be received exceptionally well by the fanbase.
