South-Central US Weather: Rounds of Storms to Bring Flash Flood, Tornadoes Next Week

Date:

A weather report says challenging weather conditions are expected in the south-central U.S. this week. Homeowners should know about flash floods, heavy rain, and isolated tornado risks.

The south-central U.S. has experienced severe weather conditions since May, with flooding risk and tornadoes. May also recorded an overwhelming number of tornadoes, causing significant property damage.

This June, residents should still worry about another concern of severe conditions. Additionally, western and eastern US could experience a dome of sizzling temperatures this early week on Wednesday, including in the Pacific Northwest

With a poor weather outlook likely this week, commuters should be extra careful navigating the road to avoid potential dangers, especially slower commutes and flooded roads.

According to a weather report by NWS, the Middle Mississippi Valley will likely experience a moderate risk of excessive rainfall. Additionally, a slight risk of severe thunderstorms can unload in the northern and central High Plains.

The forecast monitors the development of showers and severe thunderstorms from the Southeast to the Northern Intermountain Region. Meanwhile, residents in the Southeast, Rockies, and Plains could experience a poor weather outlook.

Travelers can face tornadoes, hail, frequent lightning, and rounds of rain. In a news weather report on June 10, rounds of storms are likely in parts of the southern Plains and lower Mississippi Valley.

Last weekend, severe weather concerns were reported in parts of Amarillo, Lubbock, Odessa, Dallas, Oklahoma City, Little Rock, Nashville, and Atlanta. In Little Rock, an advisory warned of thunderstorms and showers in the region, causing damaging wind gusts and hail.

Communities in low-lying areas are vulnerable to flooding concerns, particularly in the south-central U.S. When heavy rain worsens, it is best to wait until the weather finally improves.

On Monday, large hail and flooding downpours are likely in the following areas:

  • Guymon
  • Roswell
  • Lubbock
  • Odessa
  • Abilene
  • Del Rio
  • Rapid City
  • Bismarck
  • Rapid City
  • Scottsbluff
  • Cheyenne

Recent reports show a rainy outlook for Kansas residents. Additionally, a flash flood warning is forecast for Pleasanton, Mound City, and Parker.

The latest weather forecast warns of challenging weather conditions this week in the south-central U.S., particularly in the Plains and lower Mississippi Valley. Due to potential weather risk, it is advisable to limit outdoor travel or be extra cautious when navigating the roads.

Another concern is isolated tornadoes. Homeowners should watch out for tornado advisories this early week, especially in the affected areas. Frequent lightning is also likely.

Having emergency supplies at home is important when road conditions become challenging or for evacuation. The recommended emergency kits include medicines, a battery-powered radio, extra batteries, clothes, a power bank, and canned goods.
