According to a weather report on May 27, portions of the southern U.S. suffered from severe thunderstorms and isolated tornadoes, particularly in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. The damaging winds also destroyed trees and homes, resulting in power outages.

Over 15 people were recorded casualties in the southern U.S. Additionally, about 118,000 homes and businesses experienced widespread power outages in Missouri. In Kentucky, over 200,000 people had no electricity, while 40,000 in Texas.

Meanwhile, the NWS Storm Prediction Center warns of increasing severe weather risks in the mid-Mississippi Valley, Ozarks, and western Tennessee Valley. People traveling this week should consider the forecasts due to severe weather potential.

There is also a moderate risk of severe weather in southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western Kentucky, northwest Tennesee, southern Illinois, and southeast Missouri.

This week, the primary risk of tornadoes, large hail, and isolated tornadoes is major. Given the poor weather outlook, homeowners should consider the latest forecasts before planning outdoor activities or commutes.

Boston, Washington, Charlotte, and Chicago are likely to experience rainy weather on Memorial Day. Additionally, people in low-lying areas are the most vulnerable to severe weather threats, including flooding, rainfall, and tornadoes.

For Little Rock residents, NE Arkansas issues a moderate risk due to severe weather potential. Like other areas, the forecast raised concerns about damaging thunderstorms, hail, and tornadoes. A severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued in Gurdon, AR, Bearden, AR, and Sparkman, AR.
