You probably covered or heard about the Rio’s breakfast shenanigans and I have another one for you. For the last couple of months, The Cape has regulated Globalists to the side buffet. No more ordering from the menu like paying guests or those on a breakfast rate such as Prive. And this is not a $100 hotel like the Rio where one can somewhat overlook their cheapness. This is a cat 7 that commands a daily rate of $500-$1000+.
From reading the offerings (attached), the fact that this menu is not posted on their website, and indeed the file name (sent to me by the hotel), it is clear the restaurant has set up a second-class tier for Globalist breakfast. It appears to be nothing more than a side buffet while those booking a bed and breakfast or Prive rate get to enjoy the publicly posted menu (also attached) on The Ledge’s site: https://www.flowcode.com/page/theledge. I say side, because there is no buffet offered on the menu…and just look at what is offered. Apparently this weak buffet is available to guests for $55, which is a joke as it seems like the background “extras” I would expect from a luxury hotel that accompany a main entrée.
Hyatt have told me they have no power to make the hotel change its ways so maybe some bad publicity will help. Where does this end? If a hotel restaurant had 20+ breakfast items on the menu available to paying guests (and those with breakfast included such as Prive) but only allowed Globalists to order eggs, does that mean I have to have eggs for the full week since technically I am being given my entree, juice, and coffee?

There certainly is quite a difference between these two menus, and I am not a fan of the low-quality buffets that Globalist members are now downgraded to at this Thompson property in Mexico.
Conclusion
This problem with Globalist breakfasts is Hyatt’s own creation: minting endless Globalist lites and offering Guest of Honors awards.
Why would anyone pay for breakfast at any Hyatt hotel if they could buy the Guest of Honor award from any online platform for $50, which comes with not only complimentary breakfast for two but also upgrades, late check-outs, and club lounge access?
Unfortunately, this breakfast pandemic is spreading among Hyatt hotels, where Globalist members are demoted to leftover scraps.
