Tom Hardy has offered a suspiciously cryptic response regarding a Venom/Spider-Man crossover.Even before the post-credits scene in Venom: Let There Be Carnage showed Hardy’s Eddie Brock looking at the television to see Spider-Man’s identity in Spider-Man: Far from Home, rumors about the two sharing the screen for the first time since Spider-Man 3 populated the internet. And, hopefully, to a much more satisfying degree than in Sam Raimi’s let down of a trilogy-capper. But, when the Multiversal Spider-Man: No Way Home came out, the closest it got was a post-credits scene with Brock, transported out of his universe into the MCU’s, at a bar doubting Thanos’ existence.
Now that the press tour is ramping up for Hardy’s final solo Venom venture, it was practically a guarantee that the topic of Spider-Man would pop up. And, naturally, when it comes to these types of projects, actors, directors, and all others involved need to remain tight-lipped. That’s exactly what happened when Hardy was interviewed by members of the press in Mexico (via @Venom3Verse), but the beloved and versatile performer seemed to have a hard time saying precious little when asked if Spider-Man would be in The Last Dance.
“You know, see, there are, you know, there are always possibilities. I couldn’t possibly say, because this is the last [Venom] movie that I’m doing. So, yeah, I would love that.”
The last we saw Brock, he was being transported back to his own universe once the events of No Way Home‘s third act had played out. However, a drop of the symbiote doesn’t go back with him, and begins crawling across the bar. In short, as of now, Eddie Brock is not in the same universe as Peter Parker (the Tom Holland one, anyway), but some of the symbiote is.
Tom Hardy Is Playing Things Suspiciously Coy
In the footage (which you can check out above), the way Hardy says all this is certainly intriguing. He appeared to be trying very hard not to tell the audience what’s in store for Venom and Brock. Of course, nothing is official right now, but when the deal between Sony and Marvel fell through back in 2019 only to be renegotiated, it seemed to further set the stage for the characters to eventually butt heads (or, equally likely, team up).
Venom: The Last Dance is, well, the last Venom movie. But, contrary to what he’s said, it’s not set in stone that the sequel will be the last time Hardy portrays the title character. It has already been announced that there will be more Holland-led Spidey films, which is logical considering Spider-Man: No Way Home ends with the beginning of a new chapter for the MCU iteration.

So, why couldn’t Venom/Eddie Brock find their way into the MCU? Or, perhaps, vice versa? Though, the safe bet is on the former situation, considering the MCU has established itself as a stronger brand than Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, which has struggled outside the two released Venom movies with the critically panned commercial flops Morbius and Madame Web. Time will tell, but for now we’ll have to make due with Venom and Eddie Brock (and, probably, only Venom and Eddie Brock) taking on Knull, the King in Black, when Venom: The Last Dance hits theaters on October 24.
Venom 3 is the third and final installment in Sony’s symbiote trilogy starring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock. It follows the events of Let There Be Carnage, where the anti-hero fought serial killer Cletus Kasady, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, where Brock was briefly transported to the MCU through the multiverse.
