Video: Man caught on video vandalising Tesla

Date:

The alleged vandal can be seen bending the car’s number plate and rearview mirror multiple times in the video posted online.

A vandal has been caught on video damaging a Tesla on a suburban street in footage uploaded to social media.

The owner posted the video – recorded by the car’s on-board cameras – to the Tesla Owners Australia Facebook group and captioned the post: “This is the reason [why] I keep Sentry Mode on at all times. Already reported to the police.”

The Tesla driver said the incident occurred on Nelson Road in Lindfield – a north-western suburb approximately 13km from Sydney – on 20 May 2024.

In the video, the anonymous pedestrian holding a leaf blower can be seen approaching the car before bending the electric vehicle’s number plate and rearview mirror during the day.

In the third and fourth videos posted online, the culprit can be seen returning back to the car at night, adding further damage to the Tesla.

A majority of Facebook users expressed their disapproval of the vandal’s behaviour, with one commenter stating: “Seriously. What is wrong with some people”.

Police have not yet confirmed if the alleged offender will be charged or fined for vandalising the car.
