Volvo Car USA and Canada sold 11,498 cars in August, down 2.3 per cent over the same period last year. Sales of electrified models — those with a fully electric or plug-in hybrid powertrain — increased 48.2 per cent compared with the same month the previous year and accounted for 38.3 per cent of sales in August. Year to date, sales of electrified models are up 15.5 per cent versus the first eight months of 2023 and accounted for a 33.3 per cent share of sales.
Sales in the US reached 10,420 in August, down 2.1 per cent from the same period last year. Sales of electrified models increased by 47.1 per cent and accounted for 37.7 per cent of total sales.
Sales in Canada reached 1,078 cars in August, down 4.1 per cent from last year. Electrified models increased by 17.2 per cent compared to the previous year’s period, representing 43.9 per cent of total monthly sales.
In the US, the XC90 midsize luxury SUV was the top-selling model, with 2,979 cars sold during August, followed by the XC60 compact luxury SUV (2,799 vehicles) and the XC40 small luxury SUV (2,474 cars).
