Volvo Car USA and Canada Reports Sales of 11,814 Cars in April

Volvo Car USA and Canada sold 11,814 cars in April, up 12.3 per cent over the same period last year. Electrified models — those with a fully electric or plug-in hybrid powertrain — accounted for a 32.8 per cent share, an increase of 16.9 per cent compared to last year.

Sales in the US reached 10,604 in April, up 10.3 per cent over the same period last year. This was mainly driven by an 89 per cent increase in plug-in hybrids. Electrified models represented a 31.4 per cent share, a rise of 13.2 per cent.

The XC60 compact luxury SUV was the top-selling model, with 3,261 cars sold during April. It was followed by the XC90 midsize luxury SUV (3,062 vehicles) and the XC40 small luxury SUV (2,426 cars).

Sales in Canada reached 1,210 cars, up 33.7 per cent over the same period last year. Electrified models represented 44.3 per cent of total monthly sales, an increase of 46.8 per cent compared with the same period the previous year and representing a company record.
