Ezra Miller’s Hollywood career could be in jeopardy after The Flash star’s recent arrest. Last week, Miller was arrested for disorderly conduct and harassment at a karaoke bar in Hilo, Hawaii, after they grabbed the microphone from a 23-year-old woman and later lunged at a 32-year-old man playing darts. Miller was quickly bailed out, but that wasn’t the end of it.
Soon after their release, Miller was hit with a restraining order from a local couple that the 29-year-old actor was staying with. Miller allegedly barged into their room and threatened to kill them, saying, “I will bury you and your sl*t wife.” Miller also stole the woman’s passport and the man’s wallet. But it gets even worse. Hawaii police have received ten calls about Miller since March 7, Assistant Chief Kenneth Quiocho told the press last week. However, those incidents were over minor incidents like filming people at a gas station, refusing to leave the sidewalk area of a restaurant, and arguing with people.
Ezra Miller has been involved in similar incidents before as well, but Warner Bros. isn’t looking past them this time. As per The Rolling Stone, WB execs recently had an emergency meeting over Miller’s future with the studio. And apparently, a decision was taken to suspend all projects involving Miller. That also includes future DCEU appearances. And to make matters worse, The Flash production was also a source of concern for the studio. Per an insider, Miller had “frequent meltdowns” while filming, although no violence or yelling was involved. The insider further described Miller as “losing it,” stating, “Ezra would get a thought in [their] head and say, ‘I don’t know what I’m doing,’”
The Flash was delayed again recently and will now be released next summer on June 23, 2023. The move could be due to Ezra Miller’s chaotic behavior and the Discovery-WarnerMedia merger. There have been reports that the new management favors continuing the established Synderverse and that The Flash is set to undergo reshoots soon.
Ezra Miller Has Been In Trouble Before Several Times
This isn’t the first time Ezra Miller has given WB a headache. In 2020, Miller was ejected from a bar in Iceland after choking a woman and throwing her to the ground. The altercation is said to have started playfully, but Miller allegedly took it too far. Neither Warner Bros. nor Miller has addressed the incident till now.
With Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore set to hit the theaters this week, Miller’s antics have once again put the studio on the back foot. In the film, Miller plays the main role of Credence Barebone, who, in the last film, The Crimes of Grindelwald, was revealed to be Aurelius Dumbledore, a sibling of Albus Dumbledore. Five films are planned in the Fantastic Beasts series, with Miller playing a major antagonist in the coming ones. They also appeared in the HBO Max original Peacemaker, reprising their role as The Flash.
Barry Allen/ The Flash is one of the most popular superheroes ever, and the upcoming solo film will also play a significant role in deciding the future of the DCEU. The film sees Allen going back in time to prevent his mother’s death but ends up bringing unintended consequences to his timeline. The Flash is also reported to correct the DCEU’s muddled timeline, but it looks like the film itself needs some course correction. While there is currently no word on whether Ezra Miller will be recast or not, all signs point toward that scenario.
