At Townhall Trump Says That Florida Gov, Washington – Former President Donald Trump stated in a town hall Tuesday night that he had at least six potential vice presidential candidates, one of them is Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. During the town hall, Fox News host Laura Ingraham asked the audience who they thought should be vice president, and she listed some of their suggestions, including businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, South Carolina Sen.

Tim Scott, DeSantis, Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, and South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem. “Are they all on your shortlist?” she inquired, to which Trump responded, “They are.” Later, he said, “Honestly, all of those people are good.” “They’re all good and solid.”

The relationship between Trump and DeSantis is murky. The two began as allies, with Trump supporting DeSantis in the 2018 Florida governor race. At a 2020 White House press briefing, the former president also praised DeSantis for his handling of the COVID-19 outbreak, calling him a “great governor”.

However, their friendship shifted as DeSantis’ chances for the presidency in 2024 improved. Before the 2022 midterm elections, Trump revealed his new moniker for the governor: Ron DeSanctimonious. After DeSantis announced his presidential candidacy, Trump regularly pummeled him on the campaign trail and in interviews.

When DeSantis withdrew out of the 2024 race last month, he endorsed Trump, to whom the former president expressed gratitude and commended him “on doing a very good job.”

There is one catch to Trump’s choice of DeSantis as his running mate: one of them would have to relocate to another state because they are both from Florida. The 12th Amendment to the Constitution states that the president and vice president cannot reside in the same state.

Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., who was not mentioned at the town hall, is also being considered as Trump’s prospective running mate. Stefanik earlier told reporters at a New Hampshire rally that she would be proud to serve in Trump’s cabinet.
