Great news for Canucks fans as goaltender Thatcher Demko could be on his way back to the lineup.
Head coach Rick Tocchet said on Monday after practice that Demko is “healthy” and “ready to go” and could potentially be available for Tuesday’s game against the Calgary Flames.
Demko was also feeling confident about his ability to return for the intra-division matchup against Calgary, saying “I think I’ll be available for tomorrow, now it’s just up to Tocc.”
Last week, as Demko was ramping back up, Tocchet said that the team is still taking the situation “day-by-day” but that he’s ahead of schedule in his recovery from a knee injury.
The 28-year-old has been out since March 9, when he left a game against the Winnipeg Jets in the second period.
Their No. 1 option between the pipes, Demko has been stellar for the Canucks this season, leading the team to a 34-13-2 record in 39 games and is setting career-high marks in save percentage (.917) and goals against average (2.47).
Vancouver has gone 7-5-2 in the 14 games since Demko went down.
The Canucks will take on the Flames on Tuesday, with puck drop at 10:00 p.m. ET / 7:00 p.m. PT
